THE WINE: Who is an impassioned of wine in our city will be attracted for tasting a wine famous all over the world: the Marsala. Known by everybody as dessert wine, it exists in different typologies. It can be sweet, dry or almost dry, spicy, but always perfumed and winding, to accompany the dessert and the salty one and to stimulate the palates of the most curious.

The Marsala D.O.C. it has an ancient and particular history that weaves him with that Anglo-Saxon. In 1773, by chance or better for a storm, a rich entrepreneur of Liverpool, John Woodhouse, was forced to shelter him in Marsala and tasted the wine produced by the local farmers. It found it excellent, similar to some wines appreciated of Spain and of Portugal and definite to make to taste it to his countrymen. The first consignment was a success and Woodhouse it decided to stay himself to Marsala and to produce the wine in really. It restructured an ancient Baglio and it was born the first establishment of the wine Marsala. To him followed other English, Ingham and Whitaker the most known, that created other establishments for the production and distribution in the Marsala. The monopoly of the wine remained to the English until when in 1912 an Italian, Vincenzo Florio definite to enter the production and commerce in the Marsala. Still today the Cantine Florio produce and they export all over the world the Marsala.

THE WINE CELLARS: The tourist will be spellbound from the wine, but also from what is behind the bottle: the wine cellars.

To Marsala they are so many the wine cellars that open to the visitor, showing the process of production and aging of the wine, making to taste to the traveller wines of quality together with the products typical of our earths and showing in some cases the ancient charm of the Bagli, Sicilian typical structure. Some establishments are in fact ancient Bagli, wisely restructured, where passed and modern they harmoniously weave him.

To enter a Baglio become wine cellar means to take a trip in the past. To walk among the arcades, the barrels, the ancient bottles, to know history and tradition tasting wines of great quality is an unique experience.
